Statement By H.E. President John Dramani Mahama To The 67th Session Of The United Nations Of The General Assembly

In accordance with Ghanaian tradition and custom, I would like to begin with a basic but essential courtesy to express, on behalf of the government and people of my beloved country, our deepest gratitude and most profound appreciation to the United Nations, and to the numerous world leaders who mourned with us following the sudden and untimely death of our former president, Professor John Evans Atta Mills.

Ghanaians were touched by the many heartfelt messages of condolence and glowing tributes that poured in from all over the globe. Those messages of goodwill strengthened us and enabled us to transcend the adversities of an occurrence that was unprecedented in the history of Ghana.

Address Delivered By President John Dramani Mahama At The Inauguration Of The Private Sector Development Council

When I recently had the opportunity to address the people of Ghana on the policy issues that would engage our Government over the next few months I did indicate that the establishment of the Private Sector Development Council was crucial in building an effective platform for Government at the highest level to interact with the representatives of the private sector.

Ghana needs to become a much more competitive investment destination to accelerate the growth and transformation of its economy and the role and the inputs of Government, the private sector and our development partners will be crucial in this effort. Our objective Ladies and Gentlemen is to promote Ghana’s growth and transformation into a formidable middle income country.

Acceptance Speech By H.E. John Dramani Mahama Flagbearer Of The National Democratic Congress (NDC) At Special Delegates Conference Of The NDC

It is with profound humility and immense gratitude that I accept your nomination as the Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer to lead our great party, the National Democratic Congress for the 2012 Elections.

Mr. Chairman, permit me to dedicate this moment to the enduring legacy of one man, a man who put his entire life at the services of our dear nation and in deed of humanity; a man who toiled and served till his last breadth; a man whose life and death rekindled the very soul and spirit of our entire nation. Ghana of old was receding into acrimonious decadence, but His Excellency John Evans Attah Mills resuscitated and revived our resolve to unite, both as a Party and as a Nation; a New, Cleansed Nation. I dedicate my speech to him and his memory!

Good evening my fellow countrymen and women. It is a great privilege to address the nation tonight.

Five days ago, all of Ghana, Africa and, indeed, the world, bade farewell to the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills, our leader, our president and Commander-in-Chief. May his soul rest in perfect and everlasting peace.
